On at least five occasions, John McCain claimed that Iran, a Shi’a nation, was supporting Al-Qaeda in Iraq, a Sunni group. In the latest example, he did so while questioning Gen. Petraeus regarding progress in the war. If he can’t remember such a straightforward fact about the politics of the Middle East, how can he be trusted to act as the U.S. Commander-In-Chief?
The same man who wants to keep Americans in Iraq for the next 100 years cannot remember that Iran and Al-Qaeda in Iraq are on opposite sides of the centuries old religious war in this region.
This nation can ill afford a leader at the red button who can’t tell the players even with a scorecard.
