lasarina has been upgraded to a status that “no longer meets the criteria for the unit” and will thus move back to a regular floor sometime today. There is another test they want to do today as well, but the outcome of that won’t affect her move out of IMU.
The sepsis was from one of the staph bacteria (not MRSA) and Vancomycin will be continued through a full course. Cipro (the other broad spectrum antibiotic they threw at it until the cultures came back) has been discontinued. Quick action on the part of all involved seems to have handled this one very well.
The only bad news is that there won’t be any surgical date scheduled until the Vanco course has been completed, and that’s at least 14 days. I won’t be surprised at all if we move again later this week (back to an LTAC).
